So, I'm a little late with this post, but still wanted to remember all the fun adventures that came along with having a baby at Christmas!
John Parker was the perfect age this year for a "first" Christmas. Sometimes, depending on their age, babies literally know nothing about what's going on or what they are receiving, but 10 months was a really cool age. He wasn't super excited like a 3 or 4 year old would be, but he enjoyed playing with each of his new toys, and it was fun to talk about Santa and to tell him the true Christmas story; and he really loved the Christmas carols I sang to him at bedtime, like Away in a Manger and Silent Night.
On Christmas Eve, we went to my family's Christmas gathering and also to John's family's gathering. John Parker got to open his first few gifts of the season, and he really enjoyed it!
That night, we dressed him in his sweet Christmas pajamas, sat out cookies and cocoa for Santa, and sang Christmas carols until he went to sleep. Then, mommy and daddy got busy! It was so much fun taking everything out of the boxes and sitting it out so he could see exactly what he had to play with! (Santa doesn't wrap at our house, thank goodness!!)
On Christmas morning, we went his room at 8am to wake him and he was happy as a little bird, as usual, and he seemed so excited to play with his new toys first thing in the morning! He was so spastic, jumping from one new toy to another - he kept saying "wone dat, wone dat" (I want that!) It was so cute.
Then, after breakfast at my parent's, we all got dressed up for church and spent Christmas morning worshiping Jesus Christ, the REAL reason for celebrating in the first place. I can't think of a better way to show John Parker what Christmas is all about than to spend his first Christmas in church.
Next year will bring lots of new excitement, I'm sure - but it's so amazing to look back and remember John Parker's very first Christmas.
